7 Days to Die voice chat,
actually working.
Pressed V and nobody heard you? 7DTD’s built-in voice has a years-long trail of "mic works everywhere except this game" reports, and most groups gave up and moved to Discord — which is flat, and throws away the best part of a horde night.
In development — the engine is live on The Isle today.
Everything the paid tools charge for — built in.
Distance-based volume
Whispering near a sleeping horde matters. Voices fade with real in-game distance.
True directional audio
7DTD reports each player’s facing, so voices place fully in 3D — better data than most games expose.
No mods, no installs
Vanilla server, vanilla clients. Players open a link in any browser next to the game.
Moderation built in
Server-side mutes that survive rejoin, timed mutes, voice bans, moderator roles, audit log.
Reads the server, not the game
Positions come from the same interface your admin tools already use. Nothing injected, nothing to break on update.
Proven engine
The same voice system already live on The Isle — distance, direction and moderation, in production.
Three steps. No client.
Tell us about your server
Early 7DTD servers shape the build and go first.
We wire it up
Voice reads your server’s live player list — no mods on either side.
Players talk by proximity
A link, a mic permission, and the horde can hear them scream.
Why 7DTD voice chat fails — and why Discord is not the fix
The in-game voice has shipped broken for years: microphones that work in every other app go silent in 7 Days to Die, and there is even a long-standing bug where pressing push-to-talk can crash the game. So groups fall back to Discord — but Discord is flat. Everyone is equally loud everywhere, the tension of distance disappears, and the player sneaking up on your base can hear your whole party planning in comfort.
Proximity voice without a single mod
Your 7 Days to Die server already knows where every player is standing and which way they face — the same data the admin list shows. XG Voice reads it server-side and places each voice in the browser by distance and direction. Vanilla server, vanilla clients, Chromebook-friendly, and nothing breaks when the game updates.
