proximity voice · minecraft · in development

Minecraft proximity voice,
without the mod install.

Voice mods are brilliant — until you ask ten friends to install one. Everyone needs the right mod, right loader, right version, and the one person on a school Chromebook ruins it for the server. XG Voice runs in the browser instead: vanilla clients, real proximity.

Features

Everything the paid tools charge for — built in.

Distance-based volume

Voices fade with in-game blocks, read from the server — cave whispers stay in the cave.

Directional stereo

Hear which side of the wall someone is digging on. Positions and facing come from the server.

Every player can join

Modded players, vanilla players, Bedrock friends on the phone browser — nobody is locked out by a mod.

Moderation built in

Server-side mutes that survive rejoin, timed mutes, voice bans, roles and an audit log.

Server-side only

Reads positions through the server’s own interface. Your world, plugins and clients stay untouched.

Proven engine

The same voice system already live on The Isle — in production, not a concept.

How it works

Three steps. No client.

01

Tell us about your server

Early Minecraft servers shape the build and go first.

02

We connect to your server

Positions are read server-side — no plugins for players, no client mods.

03

Everyone talks by distance

A link and a mic permission. The whole server can join, whatever client they run.

The problem with proximity voice mods

Simple Voice Chat and friends are excellent — for the servers that can demand every single player install a matching client mod. Most servers can’t. Friends on vanilla, players on old versions, kids on Chromebooks: one missing install and voice splits your community into the modded and the silent. Browser voice means the invite is a link, and everyone qualifies.

How no-mod proximity voice works

Your server already knows where every player stands. XG Voice reads those positions server-side and places each voice in the browser by distance and direction — the client is never touched. It is the same engine running live on The Isle today, where a game with zero built-in voice now has servers whose players hear each other by proximity.
